19th century philanthropic flower society

I recently came across a Victorian philanthropic organisation dedicated to providing flowers for the poor. The flowers were intended both to cheer them up and to raise their aesthetic appreciation and – I think – moral standards. I’ve completely forgotten the name of this society – possibly active in the 1850s and 60s. Does anyone know of this, and – even better – have more information on it?
