Catherine Vye of Ontario, Canada, is trying to locate the following: (1) 19th Century examples of actual Wardian cases; (2) Victorian depictions of Wardian cases in photographs, drawings, paintings and patents; (3) information on Wardian cases in archival records.

You will find a fine example of an exterior Wardian case and an interior vivarium at http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/linleysambournehouse/ There are photos. There should be stuff on Wardian cases in contemporary works on fern collecting. A Victorian craze.
