Odile Pineau-Laplanche, a doctorate student in contemporary history at the Université d’Angers, France is preparing a thesis on the beginnings of the profession of horticulture in Angers in the 19th century.

Horticulturalist André Leroy (1801-1875) stayed in Britain on many occasions. Odile is looking for information concerning this horticulturalist and the relations existing between France (in particular Angers and l’Anjou) and Britain, in the field of gardens, gardening, horticulture and botanical exchange in the 19th century.
