Judith Taylor writes from California: “I am preparing a study of English garden writers and have been particularly impressed by Richard Gorer. It has been extremely difficult to learn anything about him beyond the fact that he was born in 1913 and educated at Westminster and Kings College, Cambridge. His brother was the well-known anthropologist Geoffrey Gorer, but I have not been able to find out where Richard lived and worked, or even when he died. One source noted that he was a friend of John H. Harvey.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am a retired English physician now living in San Francisco and have written three books on horticultural history. I would be immensely grateful for any help.’
